[...] Natacha Atlas – Mish Maoul I just scooped this album up over at eMusic the other day and it has been on repeat every since. The album is a glorious and thick pastiche of sound, rhythm, and melody spanning continents and traditions from Bedouin drumming to Guzheng melodies. Atlas has outdone herself and the album couldn’t have come at a better time being on the heels of Kale’s and Sawhney’s genre bending works all of which throw off the constraints of genre and just create pure music. Mish Maoul is easily going to be in my top five albums for 2006. [...]

I listened to the samples from this album when it first arrived on eMusic, but I wasn’t sure what I thought about the sound. Guess I’ll give it another try based on your rave review. ) Very nicely written review!
